Visitation BVM Mission
Statement
We, the people of the
Visitation Church, in union with the Roman Catholic Church and the
Archdiocese of Philadelphia, announce the Good News of Jesus Christ
through our diversity and unity. Though we represent many cultures
and nations, our oneness is as God’s people proclaiming the faith.
As followers of Jesus, we must know and love Him and commit
ourselves to teach God’s message to others. We
continue to know and live our faith by preparing our people to
proclaim the Good News of Jesus Christ through our preaching, prayer
and study of the Holy Scriptures. We strive to instill in the hearts
of our congregation an openness to see everyone as God’s people. We
are encouraged to practice God’s teachings through the many
ministries of the Church. We
are challenged to meet the spiritual needs of our brothers and
sisters respecting the differences of each, while valuing what we
have in common. The Liturgy is celebrated in different languages
(i.e., English, Spanish, Vietnamese) reaching expressions that
respect our cultural heritage. In addition to the Liturgy, we foster
reconciliation in our community and renewal of faith. We
reach out to those who wish to know God better by offering education
and preparation in the faith. In an area of the city under many
pressures, we are a sign of the presence of God. We
seek to provide hope and nourishment to the community by bringing
our parish together, which enables us to work collectively to make a
better neighborhood. Recognizing our
role to proclaim the message of Jesus Christ, we serve as a beacon
of hope in crisis and in celebration and a religious haven. With the
help of the Holy Spirit, we will continue to welcome all who wish to
praise God.
